Over Thanksgiving this year, we made stuffing. One of the ingredients we used, of course, was celery. After all was said and done, my daughter had asked me what we could do with the celery trimmings that were left over. My intial response was “I’m not sure, but what did you have in mind?” She asked if it was possible to grow your own celery from what was left over. What an amazing idea! Why couldn’t we? So off for research we went.

This can be an amazing project for a science fair also. Kids can take measurements and see how long each grows. Maybe try different types of water to see which way works best. What happens if you were to use colored water? In the sun and out of the sun is another easy measurement.
